As shown in images 17 and 18, rust will flake off, so please be careful. It may have originally been self-supporting. The bottom appears to have decayed and broken off. Perhaps you could create a base for it. I think it's a pretty amazing sculpture. I can't tell the maker or any engravings from its current state, but it gives the impression that it's something special. Is it contemporary art? The material is, of course, iron.
