A set of 8 large-format photographs of the "Buddha statues of the New Treasure House" purchased at Toshodai-ji Temple in Nara, a World Heritage site. The New Treasure House is a storage and exhibition facility built in 1970 to manage and store the cultural assets of Toshodai-ji Temple. It houses numerous wooden statues created in the late Nara period. The photographs are by Kozo Ogawa, a leading photographer of Buddhist statues. He successfully captures the diverse expressions of the statues using unique lighting and angles. Among the 8 photos, the particularly famous standing statue of a Tathagata is known as the "Torsos of Toshodai-ji Temple" due to its graceful and beautiful form, and has captivated many artists and enthusiasts.
