Published by: Nichido Gallery Tadayoshi Nakabayashi (born September 17, 1937) is one of the leading printmakers in the Japanese printmaking world. He is a professor emeritus at Tokyo University of the Arts, and has received the Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon and the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Rosette. He is a leading figure in copperplate printmaking in Japan. Based on the idea that "nothing is imperishable," he superimposes the corrosion of copper plates with the corrosion of everything, including himself, and continues to create copperplate etching prints (etchings) based on a monochrome palette of black and white.
