This is a black obiage (sash tie) for mourning wear. It features a chrysanthemum pattern and is made of pure silk (100% silk). I purchased it to match a black mourning kimono and carefully stored it without ever having the opportunity to use it. However, I no longer wear kimonos. There are no stains, dirt, or damage.
