There are various theories about his origins. He claimed to be a descendant of the Tachibana clan. His sons were Masatsura, Masatoki, and Masayoshi. He served Emperor Go-Daigo in the Genko War (1331-1333), and in cooperation with Imperial Prince Morinaga, he drew a large-scale shogunate army to Chihaya Castle in the Battle of Chihaya Castle, inducing rebellions throughout Japan, and contributed to the overthrow of the Kamakura shogunate. Also, under the Kenmu Restoration, he was appointed to the Kirokusho (Record Office), the highest administrative organ, and assisted the Emperor along with Ashikaga Takauji. After Takauji's rebellion in the En'gen War, he, along with Nitta Yoshisada and Kitabatake Chikafusa, took part in the Southern Court's army, but was defeated by Takauji's army in the Battle of Minatogawa and committed suicide. He was one of the Kenmu no Genkun (Founding Heroes of the Kenmu Restoration). 【Nitta Yoshisada】1301-1338 A gokenin (vassal) and military commander from the late Kamakura period to the Nanboku-cho period. His real name was Minamoto no Yoshisada. He was the 8th head of the Nitta clan, the main lineage of the Kawachi Genji Yoshikuni line. His father was Nitta Tomouji, and his mother was from the Tokuda family in present-day Ishikawa Prefecture.
