I mainly make shinobue flutes, but recently I've also started playing the kena. I've obtained blueprints for making Argentine-type kena and have begun production. I've wrapped the top and bottom with vintage rose-colored thread. Similar to shinobue flutes, I've branded the end of the tube. Inside, like the shinobue, I've applied cashew lacquer (burnt umber) to prevent corrosion and mold.
