This is a G&L premium S-500. The Premium series is Made in Japan and manufactured by the long-established Fujigen. It's a discontinued model, and I think it will become increasingly difficult to obtain. Leo Fender, feeling limited by Fender, founded G&L. It feels like an evolution of the Fender Stratocaster. A major feature is the change in pickup selector via the toggle switch. When off, it's the usual 5-way selector, and when on, it allows output from the front & rear pickups, all three pickups, etc. Especially the front & rear output is very good, producing a sound like the Telecaster's mixed position. It's great for cutting and lightly distorted sounds. Also, the G&L's proprietary pickups are excellent, producing a powerful yet alluring sound. I purchased it used and have been using it. I didn't notice much change in the rear tone, and the pot heights are different, so I think the previous owner probably replaced them. I didn't mind using it as is, but if you're concerned, please replace them or rewire. The pickup covers, knobs, and back panel have been replaced. I have the original knobs. The springs have been changed to Raw Vintage. The neck feels like a firm, somewhat rounded profile. It's solid but not too thick, providing a sense of security. As expected from Fujigen, the build quality is superb. I'm reluctantly selling it because I have too many guitars. Recommended for those who don't mind scratches, are satisfied with the guitar's condition, and want a practical Stratocaster. *I have explained the damage, scratches, and condition to the best of my ability and included them in the photos.
