He began practicing martial arts such as Judo and Karate at the age of 12, and worked for the Kanagawa Prefectural Police from the age of 23. While in service, he was shocked to find that the martial arts he had trained in were not effective in actual crime scenes. Through experiencing numerous real-life situations, he strongly felt that his mental state influenced his body and the space around him. Since then, he has spent 20 years contemplating the relationship between mind, technique, body, and space in practical situations, and named it "Mind-Body Technique." After retiring at the age of 43, he continued to research practical martial arts and mind-body balance, and is dedicated to instructing the next generation through seminars and training sessions.
