This is a lamp I purchased about 20 years ago at an antique market in Tokyo. The shop owner said it was from Persia or the Islamic region, so I thought it was interesting and brought it home. At the time, I researched books and documents, but I couldn't find any details. The construction suggests it might have had a lid, but there are no scratches on the edges, so it could also be part of the design. The shop owner said it was from around the 16th century, but I couldn't confirm that. There are chips and cracks. Due to the nature of the item, I have stored it after lightly dusting it.
