The name "Hozuki" (Chinese Lantern) comes from the tea caddy's shape, with its taut body and the constriction from the shoulders to the mouth. It is also known as a Bunrin Katatsuki. The black amber glaze has a beautiful persimmon-colored luster, and it is a refined, thinly-made Chinese-made Tang-style tea caddy. It is said that in 1616, Sakai Uta no Kami Tadayoshi received this tea caddy when he met Tokugawa Ieyasu in Sunpu.
