This is an obiage (decorative sash) used for Shichi-Go-San (a Japanese festival for children). While it shows signs of age and use, it still seems like it would serve its purpose as an accent for the chest area of a kimono. There is one stain on the back (photo 4). Also, there are loose threads at both ends, and a small hole on one side (photo 5). In addition, several small holes can be seen when the shibori (tie-dye) part is spread out (photo 6).
