This is an old En-taka-jū (tiered food box). It's a refined design, known as a Daitoku-ji jū, with a deep, reddish-brown t溜-nuri (lacquer) finish. Compared to typical Shunkei-nuri (lacquer) pieces, it's slightly smaller and sturdier with thicker wood. It's in generally good condition, with only minor storage wear.
