This collection brings together avant-garde ZINES and self-published works created in West Germany from the 1960s to the 70s. In the mid-1960s, with the spread of printing technology, creators who discovered a unique aesthetic in these publications left behind a variety of works. This book includes experimental and ambitious collections of works using words and visuals, such as typewritten text, handwritten notes, drawings, collages of pornography, snapshots, and manga fragments. It also explains the background of the creations made amidst the fluctuating social situation, exploring the philosophy born from the rebellion that championed "Do-It-Yourself" and providing an opportunity to re-examine the aesthetics of independent publishing labels and risograph printing. Edited by German author Jan-Frederik Bandel, scholar and critic Annette Gilbert, and graphic designer Tania Prill, based in Switzerland.
