It originated in China and is similar to the yangqin, but smaller and produces a soft sound. The player holds bamboo mallets in both hands and uses them to strike the strings to produce sound. Purchased locally about 35 years ago and shipped to Japan by sea. It has been displayed at home since then. Although almost unused, there is rust on the metal fittings due to the passage of time (see photo 9). There are also other areas that show signs of age. About a third of the strings are broken due to aging (see photo 7). I can provide some extra strings (bottom right of photo 1), and there are tools for restringing (see photo 8), but please understand that it requires maintenance. !Price does not include shipping.
