Mino ware boasts a history of a thousand years. Koheigama has inherited that tradition while pursuing its own unique beauty. The "Akae Kinmarumon Kyusu Senchawan" by Living National Treasure Kato Kohei is a masterpiece that combines gorgeousness and elegance, with vivid red painting and gold decoration. Kato Kohei (the fifth generation) was born in Gifu Prefecture in 1893 and succeeded Koheigama. He exhibited at the Teiten Exhibition and the Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition, and after the war, he worked to modernize Mino ware as the director of the Gifu Prefectural Ceramics Testing Center. He mastered a wide range of techniques such as celadon, tenmoku, Ri-cho style, and Kenzan style, and produced reproductions of Chinese ceramics and gorgeous works of red painting and gold brocade. In 1973, he was certified as a holder of Gifu Prefecture's Important Intangible Cultural Property and played a major role in training the next generation. The Kyusu Senchawan with its wide rim is a shape that allows you to fully enjoy the aroma of sencha. The set of five is perfect for entertaining guests or for tea ceremonies.
