This is a set of two Baker Dishes (curry/pasta plates) designed by Masatoshi Saeki, a ceramic artist selected as one of the "10 Designers of the World" by the International Museum of Ceramic Art in Faenza, Italy, who passed away in 2019. These were made in the 1970s and are no longer in production. "Kannyu" refers to the fine cracks that appear on the surface of the glaze due to the difference in shrinkage between the ceramic body and the glaze during the cooling process after firing.
