An acquaintance knowledgeable about these pieces told me they might be Hon-tsuge (genuine boxwood) or Satsuma-tsuge (Satsuma boxwood), but I have no definite proof. These Moriage koma (raised pieces), made with great care, are of the highest quality craftsmanship. This is a set of Shogi pieces (40 pieces, box). There are fine scratches, scuffs, signs of use, and some dirt. Please refrain from purchasing if you are looking for something in like-new condition.
