This is a piece of indigo-dyed cotton boro. It appears to be from the Meiji to Taisho eras. It is likely that it was used for futon covers, etc. This indigo dye was collected in Kaga. Touching it, one feels the gentle texture of hand-spun yarn, and it gives the impression of having been used considerably. There are many patches, tears, frays, damage, and stains, but the clear indigo color makes it a refreshing piece.
