In "Desperado," Rodriguez added another twist to the unconventional roles he used before, and let them run wild. They bravely stride through the wilderness, not forgetting a touch of light humor, and skillfully dodge bullets and fireballs spectacularly unleashed from Hollywood-style pyrotechnics time and again. This film, which can be considered a sequel to the previous film, is a remake by Rodriguez himself with a larger budget of his shocking low-budget (a mere $7,000!) indie film "El Mariachi." Antonio Banderas plays the mysterious, wandering El Mariachi. Steve Buscemi, who introduces El Mariachi and tells his legend in a bar at the beginning, brilliantly plays the ambiguous, talkative narrator. The bartender played by Cheech Marin stylishly uses a toothpick and stands out. Salma Hayek, who plays the heroine, makes a glamorous entrance in a full-fledged slow motion scene, following the traditional "beautiful woman appearance scene" technique used in movies. This is not the kind of movie that leaves something in your heart after you watch it.
