It depicts the brutal battlefield with thorough realism and won five awards at the 71st Academy Awards in 1999, including Best Director and Best Cinematography. In 1944, the Allied forces landed on the coast of Normandy, France, but many soldiers lost their lives. Captain Miller, who survived the fierce battle, is ordered to rescue Private James Ryan, a paratrooper who went missing on the front lines. The Ryan family had lost three of their four sons in succession, and the military leadership decided to send the youngest, James, back home to his mother. Captain Miller and the seven soldiers he chose head to the battlefield, questioning why eight lives are being put at risk to save one...
