◇ Sanetsune Tokudaiji A peer of the Imperial loyalist and expulsion of foreigners faction, a duke (Minister of the Imperial Household, Lord Keeper of the Privy Seal). He served as the Lord Chamberlain to Emperor Meiji and held the senior first rank, Grand Cordon of the Order of the Paulownia Flowers, and was a duke. His brother was Kinmochi Saionji. A peer of the Imperial loyalist and expulsion of foreigners faction. Appointed to the National Affairs Commission in the second year of Bunkyu (1862). Appointed to the Council of State the following year. In the fourth year of Keio (1868), he became a participant in the Meiji government, concurrently serving as the Governor of Internal Affairs and Director of the Internal Affairs Bureau. In the second year of Meiji (1869), he became the Governor of the Imperial Household Agency (reaching the position of Dainagon). In the third year of Meiji (1870), he became the Lord Chamberlain of the Imperial Household Ministry, concurrently serving as Minister of the Imperial Household. In the 24th year of Meiji (1891), he became Lord Keeper of the Privy Seal and concurrently served as Minister of the Imperial Household. He assisted Emperor Meiji as a close aide until his death.
