I am selling a set of four vintage Chinese special stamps, "Scenery of Xishuangbanna." Symbol: T.55 Issue Date: 1980 (Issued January 20, 1981) Issuing Authority: Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the People's Republic of China (now China Post) Xishuangbanna is located in the Lancang River basin in southern Yunnan Province, China, and is a region rich in flora and fauna. The Chinese government has established nature reserves to protect and utilize resources. On January 20, 1981, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the People's Republic of China issued these special stamps to introduce its beautiful nature. Stamp 1 (upper left) is titled "Morning Light on the Clear Water." The scene depicts a morning landscape with palm trees spreading their branches and lush green forests on the opposite bank. The diligent people of Xishuangbanna are already busy working in the fields and by the river, bathed in the soft morning light. Stamp 2 (upper right) is titled "Ancient Temple of the Palm-Leaf Manuscripts." The scene features a deep, clear blue sky and a land covered with lush flowers and grass. Towering green betro (palm-leaf) trees stand around, and an ancient temple stands quietly in a solemn atmosphere. Incense smoke rises faintly from the forest, and the rich aroma of the Dai ethnic group's folk customs drifts through the air. Stamp 3 (lower left) is titled "Dai Village." The scene depicts simple bamboo houses and lush palm groves, beautiful like a poem. Several Dai girls walk and chat with light steps. The whole scene is filled with happiness and tranquility. Stamp 4 (lower right) is titled "Moonlight over Banna." The scene is a quiet night, with a golden moon shining high in the purplish-gray night sky. Under the trees, bathed in bright, clear moonlight, girls stretch their bodies gracefully, and young people constantly beat drums. They are dressed in Dai costumes, singing and dancing, conveying their love and feelings. All stamps are vintage and have been used.
