The origins of Jojutsu and Jodo can be traced back to the Edo period. Muso Gonnosuke Katsuyoshi, who was born in Katori, Shimousa Province (Katori District, Chiba Prefecture), was defeated in a match against the swordsaint Miyamoto Musashi. After rigorous training, he established Shinto Muso-ryu Jojutsu. In recent years, it has become the All Japan Jodo Federation, and there are many enthusiasts not only in Japan but also in countries around the world.
