Although the Miraculous Medal has a standardized design, there are various depictions of Mary and designs on the back depending on the sculptor and artist. This particular medal features a more three-dimensional and distinctive depiction of the Immaculate Conception of Mary standing on the front, and the Sacred Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the back. The radiating halo-like pattern on the back is a design often found on 19th-century Miraculous Medals. The two-tiered prayer inscription on the front is also a characteristic design of 19th-century medals. Its size would be suitable for a keychain as well as a pendant.
