The case has been replaced with a new one. While traveling in Izu, student Mizuhara (Hideki Takahashi) befriends a troupe of traveling performers and travels with them. Among them, Mizuhara is drawn to the freshness of the young girl Kaoru (Sayuri Yoshinaga). This is the fourth film adaptation of Yasunari Kawabata's novel of the same name, and the thoughts of the Nikkatsu youth film staff and cast of the time are brought together.
