I went yarn shopping because I wanted to knit a Sophie Hood. This is baby cashmere, a special find. I've knitted about four items in the Sophie series with other yarns, but this little scarf was so great that I started knitting, thinking I'd like to take my time and knit a truly special scarf. I'm using two strands of yarn with a 4mm needle, and the pattern is "The Holiday" by Miki Teragaki. Please use the gauge as a reference. The sample is not included in the product. It's not itchy, it's fluffy and light, and I really recommend this yarn for around the face and neck. It's very light and fluffy and soft. It doesn't itch even when held against the neck. The thickness doesn't look much different from Opal 4-ply, but it's because it's fluffy. It's 350m per 50g. Will it make a lighter piece? I've included comparison photos. The Opal yarn is not included in the product. I knitted a simple little scarf in orange-brown with one strand. I was able to knit it with one 43g ball. It's fluffy and voluminous, yet surprisingly light. The little scarf is not included in the product. I've knitted some swatches. The mocha color is two strands with a 3.5mm needle. The cream color is three strands with a 5mm needle. The blue-gray is two strands with a 5mm needle. The orange-brown is one strand with a 3.5mm needle. One or two strands are good for a Sophie scarf, and three strands are good for a Sophie hood.
