Perfect as a tea ceremony utensil. ■Condition■ ● Deterioration such as rust and peeling can be seen inside the kama (see images). ■Product■ Ro-gama (hearth kettle) Kama master: Okuni Toheimon Kuri-kuchi maru-gama (round kama with a curved mouth), mushikui jimon (worm-eaten pattern) ■Size■ ● Diameter: approx. 12cm ● Width: approx. 25cm ● Height: approx. 20cm (approx. 23cm including lid) ■Okuni Tohei Brief History■ First generation: Named Daikichi, later received the name Hakusai. In the late Edo period, he and his younger brother Tohei cast cannons for the Tokugawa shogunate. Second generation: Named Tohei. In 1915, he exhibited an Oni-arare-tedori-gama (kettle with a demon-shaped handle and hailstone pattern) at the Japan Art Association and received the highest award. Third generation: Tohei Hakusai, after Tohei's death, he inherited his techniques and became recognized by tea ceremony practitioners along with the prosperity of the tea ceremony. He was called the Tohei of Naniwa in contrast to the Onishi family of Kyoto. Fourth generation: Tohei. He researched the Ashiya-gama and Tenmyo-gama, which his father (the third generation Tohei) loved, and developed his own unique kama surface. Fifth generation: Tohei, retired early. Sixth generation: Tohei (current generation).
