This is a deadstock, unused fur hood for the American military M-65 Mod coat. When attached to the parka and fastened around the neck, the fur provides warmth, and a wire is built into the brim. M-65 hoods are used around the head and neck, where there is a lot of sebum, so used ones often have hair of unknown origin and hard-to-see stains on the wool felt lining. Also, washing can tangle the fur and make it lose its fluffy texture, so we recommend using a clean, unused item. I purchased a box of six tied together with string, and I have stored some of them in a dark place without using them. The leather toggles on the drawstrings are easy-to-handle oval shapes.
