This is a homemade violin mute. It reduces the sound during practice. 【Features】 Not only does it provide a noticeable sound-dampening effect, but its effectiveness is also confirmed numerically through spectrum analysis. It attenuates the 1000-6000Hz range, which is the source of noise-causing overtones, by 5-10dB, meaning the sound is less than half as loud. I always use this when practicing, but I'm surprised by the loud sound when I occasionally forget to put it on ^^ ARTINO and similar mutes that sit on the bridge have high sound-dampening effects, but they have drawbacks such as: ・The point of contact between the bow and strings is not visible when attached. ・The fundamental tone you want to hear during practice is not audible. ・Since it only sits on the bridge, it can be dropped, or putting it in the case while attached can cause problems. ・It leaves marks and rubber stains on the bridge. ・It's heavy. I made this to overcome these issues. The ones I've made so far had conflicting issues, such as instruments that couldn't be attached if the mute was made the largest size to achieve sound dampening, or a slight reduction in sound dampening effect if it was made smaller. This time, I combined large and small parts to solve these problems. I also made the parts separate for easy attachment and removal. 【How to Attach】 Attach the two parts so that they sandwich the bridge. It is fixed with strong magnets, so when attaching it to the bridge, slide the small part from the side to avoid impacting the bridge. Basically, place the side with the sticker towards the fingerboard. If the parts come into contact with the strings, you can almost always fix it by reversing the front and back. 【Important Notes】 This product is about 21mm high (from the center of the bridge to the E string) with the small part and about 26mm with the large part, so it should be fine if you have a normal 4/4 violin bridge height, but it may not be possible to attach it to fractional violins. In rare cases, even with a 4/4, the height to the E string may not be sufficient due to the shape of the instrument, so please check before ordering. Please forgive any minor manufacturing scratches.
