This is an indigo-dyed cotton boro. The era is estimated to be from the Meiji to Taisho periods. It is thought to have been used for futon covers or similar items. This indigo-dyed fabric was collected in Kaga. When touched, it has a wonderfully soft feel of hand-spun yarn and shows signs of considerable use. Although there are many patches, tears, unraveling, scratches, and stains, the subdued indigo color makes it a refreshing piece.
