This is a lidded bowl with a "Tossamoyo" (striped) pattern, perfect for steamed dishes like chawanmushi (savory egg custard). The "Gohonte" (a type of pottery) is a charming vessel where the components in the clay oxidize during firing, resulting in pink or orange spots. Gohonte is also known as "Hotaru" (firefly) in the world of pottery because of its appearance, which resembles a dimly glowing firefly.
