I found it at a recycle shop, and the deciding factor for purchase was the gradient pink lining of the haori. The contrast with the dark navy is exquisite, and I was impressed by the shop owner's explanation of "ura-gatsuri" (hidden elegance), the idea of being stylish in unseen places. I purchased it from a recycle shop as an unused, beautiful item with the basting threads still attached. I remembered the material as tsumugi (pongee), but I believe it's wool. It looks like high-quality tsumugi, has a wide collar which is rare for wool, and the sewing is careful, but the fabric feels fluffy, which is different from tsumugi. The price reflects this.
