An antique papier-mâché Maneki-neko figurine with an orange collar. Likely from the Taisho or early Showa period. The papier-mâché is well-made. A distinctive feature is the eyes, which appear to be made of gold-colored glass. Also, the raised left paw has a realistic feel. This is a work of art. Purchased from an antique shop for around 30,000 yen. It has been stored out of direct sunlight, but there are some slight lines on the surface as shown in the image.
