(Just my opinion) Because it's hand-painted, the subtle differences in the firing and patterns make each piece unique and enjoyable. I purchased several of these at an Arita-yaki pottery fair at a department store in the Kansai region many years ago. I bought them thinking they would be lovely for special occasions like New Year's, perhaps to hold things like salmon roe or black beans... but they've been sitting in the cupboard ever since... I'm also listing other pieces with different patterns and variations of the same design, so please feel free to compare them. I think they could be used as small dishes for side dishes, or as a jewelry box for earrings, rings, and other small items. The bottom is dirty, but otherwise, there are no noticeable scratches or chips. Please consider this item with the understanding that it has been stored at home for a long time.
