J-45 Special The world-famous Workhorse gets the Special treatment The J-45 Special features a round shoulder body, solid mahogany for the sides and back, and solid Sitka spruce for the top. Gibson's traditional scalloped X-bracing is used on the body top. With a thinner body width than the J-45 Standard, the "concert depth" design provides a tight, low-frequency response that stands out in a mix with other instruments, and also makes it easier to hold during performance. The neck shape features a slim taper profile for comfortable and smooth playing. The 12-inch radius fingerboard is made of rosewood and inlaid with mother-of-pearl dot inlays, and features 20 standard frets. The Gibson traditional belly-up style rosewood bridge is equipped with a TUSQ saddle, and TUSQ products are also used for the nut and bridge pins. High-quality Grover Rotomatic tuners provide stable tuning. The J-45 Special's color is satin vintage sunburst with satin nitrocellulose lacquer. Equipped with an L.R. Baggs Element Bronze undersaddle piezo pickup & active preamp, and the volume control is easily operated from the side of the soundhole, allowing for studio-quality sound in any environment.
