This is a pre-painted, finished model of the F6F-3 Hellcat, a carrier-based fighter aircraft used by the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps during World War II. The scale is 1/48, manufactured by Micro Ace. (Originally, it seems to be a kit released by Arii Corporation, with Micro Ace taking over and continuing to sell the molds.) It is basically a straight build, all brush-painted. It is glued in a flying state, but the landing gear parts are also included! (The wheels could not be stored as they were, so they were cut with tools and glued.) The base colors are a three-color camouflage of Navy Blue, Intermediate Blue, and Insignia White. This is a maritime camouflage paint scheme often seen on U.S. Navy aircraft in the mid-war period! The decals included with the kit were unusable, so separately sold ones of the same scale were used. Please check the photos for the instruction manual and other accessories. Although it is unassembled, a bomb that can be attached to the underside of the main wing is included. The F6F Hellcat was developed by Grumman. Due to various problems with the F4U Corsair, which was supposed to be the main carrier-based fighter, the F4F Wildcat was improved and adopted as a "stopgap" measure. The solid airframe design equipped with a 2,000-horsepower engine led to high reliability, and its high bulletproof performance earned it the nickname "Grumman Iron Works." Although it was a rather heavy aircraft, it could hold its own to some extent in high-speed combat even if drawn into dogfights, the specialty of its rival, the Zero fighter. According to U.S. Navy records, the kill ratio against Japanese aircraft was a staggering "19:1." While the veracity is unknown, this figure well represents the high performance of the Hellcat. The F6F-3, which is reproduced in the kit, is characterized by a small window for rearward visibility on the rear of the canopy. (This is not present on the improved F6F-5.) This is a product made by an amateur, but if you are okay with that, please consider it. It will be shipped via Yu-Packet.
