The following is a product description: ■ Product Overview The Fulltone Obsessive Compulsive Drive (OCD) is an overdrive/distortion circuit with a very open sound and a wide dynamic range, unlike other overdrives... In other words, it provides a more natural and wider distortion with less compression, allowing for differences in picking nuances compared to conventional diode-clipping overdrives. It also creates complex overtones without altering the original tone of the amp or guitar. The OCD achieves tube-like distortion through a rare combination of overdriving a JFET op-amp and hard-clipping a pair of MOSFETs in the latter part of the circuit. Due to its high output volume, it can be driven much harder than a typical OD. It can also operate on DC18V, significantly improving dynamic range and clarity. Changes in V2 include "Enhanced Bypass," which sets both switching FETs to Class A and configures the FETs for gain, buffering all dynamics by 0.3 to 0.06dB, even with slight gain. No matter where it's placed on the pedalboard, the sound remains consistent, positively impacting the sound, reducing the load on the pedal's hard-clipping stage, and improving both the sustain of the sound and overtones. It also features a discrete 2N5457 JFET input section in Class A configuration, increasing the input impedance to 1 mega-ohm (previously 330K) for improved dynamics. It has an internal switch to select between the new "Enhanced Bypass" and "True-Bypass" features.
