Since ancient times, the main shrine has revered mountain dogs as divine messengers and calls the earthenware Komainu "Oinu-sama," praying to them as a protective deity against serious illnesses, theft, and other troubles and disasters. ② Yamasumi Shrine Yamasumi Shrine is a shrine located on Mount Yamasumi in Shizuoka Prefecture. It is also known as the general guardian of Japan and is famous for Yamasumi pilgrimage. It is a shrine of "Oinu-sama faith," along with Musashi Mitake Shrine and Mitsumine Shrine, centered on Chichibu-Togen. Oinu-sama is a mountain dog (wolf/great god).
