A wooden folk toy with hand-painted floral patterns, full of playfulness with movable limbs. A folk toy from Hinagu, Kumamoto Prefecture. Named "Benta Ningyo" after the name of the creator, Benta. Also called the Okin Nyoningyo, as it is modeled after the legendary heroine, Okin. Similar to a kokeshi doll, but made of paulownia wood, hand-carved without a lathe, and with red cloth attached to the arms and legs, and a bib.
