This book is a photo collection featuring folk art from Central and South America, planned in conjunction with an exhibition of the same name, where Alexander Girard, then the Design Director of the textile division at Herman Miller, displayed his own collection. The photographs were taken by the Eames couple, who were close friends. The Eameses left behind many video works using folk art and toys, making this book interesting even when viewed within the context of the Eames' works. The EAMES OFFICE has released these video works on YouTube, so please take a look. Recommended are "Parade," which features what appears to be a Gion Matsuri float (though unrelated to this book), and "Powers of Ten," which greatly stimulated my intellectual curiosity when I saw it in my student days.
