Masahiko Tomozawa was a renowned sculptor who was active in the contemporary sculpture world. He specialized in Buddhist sculptures, but passed away in 2016. He dedicated numerous Buddhist statues, such as the Four Heavenly Kings at Kawasaki Daishi Temple's Sanmon gate, Kannon statues, and Nyoirin Kannon statues to temples and shrines throughout the country. His works are bronze statues cast using traditional techniques, with the coloring expressed through the Ohaguro technique (a traditional Japanese method of blackening teeth). The Buddhist statues of Masahiko Tomozawa exude a sense of dignity and rich humanity, and this work also has a gentle expression. The work is titled "Suragi" and features a calm, relaxed expression, a very pleasant smiling face, and a Nyoirin Kannon that brings a sense of peace.
