This is a Japanese-style furoshiki (wrapping cloth). Made of sturdy fabric, it would also be lovely as a tapestry. It features a gorgeous gold-leaf design. I purchased it at Nihonbashi Takashimaya department store as a souvenir for overseas guests. In the end, I didn't give it away and it was stored for a long time.
