Please note that we may use recycled materials for packaging. [Suihō Kuwahara] Born in Obihiro-cho, Kasai-gun, Hokkaido (present-day Obihiro City) in 1906. In 1921, he entered the Sapporo Railway Training School and became aware of calligraphy after studying under Kakudo Otsuka. He also met Tei Kaneko and Hanyu Miyake, who would later become calligraphers, during his time at the railway training school. After graduating from the railway training school in 1924 and taking a job, Naitei Kawatani and Tenrai Hidai successively visited Hokkaido. They recommended that he go to Tokyo, so he went to Tokyo with Kaneko in 1932 and studied under Tenrai Hidai. The following year, he participated in the Shodo Geijutsu-sha, which was formed mainly by Soku Ueda. After the war, while keeping a certain distance from the calligraphy world, Kuwahara, like his teacher Tenrai, traveled throughout the country to distribute calligraphy and worked to spread Tenrai's calligraphy (from this, he was also called a traveling calligrapher). Even today, many of Kuwahara's calligraphies remain in various places. In 1972, he became a calligraphy instructor at the Togu Gosho (Crown Prince's Palace). He passed away on March 27, 1995.
