An antique Belgian wooden box, approximately 19cm wide, with a beautifully carved openwork floral pattern on the top lid and five sides. This is a folk art-style, Art Nouveau-style wooden trinket box. The top lid features an openwork carving of a pink… a flower similar to a carnation. All sides feature small morning glories/evening glories, or buds and leaves of flowers similar to periwinkles, swaying gracefully and arranged charmingly. The box is made of thin boards, approximately 5mm thick, layered in four sheets. The upper and lower rims have scallop-shaped cut decorations. The scallops are also hollowed out, giving the impression of antique lace. The surface appears to be coated with a glossy varnish. As a bonus, I will include an antique French fabric with images of pink roses, carnations, and small blue and orange flowers to be placed on the inner bottom. It is larger than the bottom surface, and the edges are folded over once or twice. Please forgive any errors due to amateur measurements.
