These are S-wire Buttons, where a hard wire is passed through the bottom of the button and the prongs of the tack are wrapped around it to hold it in place. This is a painstaking reproduction of the old two-prong style. How about using them for customizing or repairing your denim jacket? You can also use them as the top button for jeans. As you wear and wash them repeatedly, they will age and change over time, looking almost like vintage.
