This is a folding fan for painting, suitable for ink wash painting (sumi-e), Japanese-style painting (nihonga), calligraphy (sho), and Chinese poetry (kanshi). The paper has ribs inserted, which can be removed. After spreading the paper and painting on it, insert the thin ribs into the gaps in the paper, and glue the thick ribs to the paper to complete the fan. (The thin ribs do not need to be glued.) A stamp from the place of origin is hidden on the surface of the paper. It appears to be made in Anhui Province, China (the place of origin of Xuan paper). One fan has been glued and peeled apart (it seems usable if reattached). One fan has wormholes. In addition, some fans have faded navy blue edging. Please refer to the photos. Thank you.
