It is a truly iconic piece, featured on the cover of Fat Lava textbooks. The following explanation is also provided in the text: "A low vase from the Rubin series. The bottom has a hand-carved signature of 178 Rubin W.GERMANY along with the decorator's initials. Height 7.5cm. This series was designed by Hanns Welling in 1961 and has variations using smooth and rough glazes. Teapots are rare." There is a handwritten signature on the bottom. I believe this piece is classified as having a glaze that is between smooth and rough. The last photo was taken with the UFO-shaped 178 Rubin, which was featured on the catalog cover.
