These are rare teacups that make use of the chrysanthemum patterns on the cross-sections. It takes a long time for the wood to grow to the size needed for production, and some pieces take over 100 years. The plant grows in steep mountainous areas, and commercial logging is now prohibited, making these crafts extremely valuable. I purchased these at a specialty store and have kept them in storage. The color of the lacquer and the shape are as they were when purchased. These are unique pieces that make the most of natural materials.
