"Vertigo" (Spatial Disorientation), a name given to this pickup because it makes you lose track of time and get absorbed while playing it during the trial listening stage. The tone is realized as a low-gain, well-balanced vintage Stratocaster pickup with a light drive feel that clings to the wound strings around the 12th fret. Like Fender vintage Stratocasters, it uses S-pole tops, clockwise winding, and Alnico 5 magnets, with a meticulous winding process of approximately 1000 turns in 4 different winding patterns. Regarding the tone, it is generally bright with a wide range from low to high frequencies. The neck pickup has a low-frequency-biased balance, with a stronger compression feel around the 12th fret. When playing single notes with a slight overdrive, a comfortable blues feel can be perceived. The middle pickup has a good balance, suitable for both cutting and all-around use, with less low-end than the neck pickup. The bridge pickup has a high-frequency-biased balance. It pairs well with overdrive and has a tone that cuts through when playing riffs. All positions are wound in the same polarity and direction, so hum cancellation is not effective in the half-tone positions. However, this results in a more prominent tone in the half-tone positions, giving a sense of presence. Compared to the 1961 "Glory Days" that Tourus has offered, this pickup is slightly brighter with a wider range and a bit more power. The same impression is obtained when compared to my reference, the Custom Shop '60. For those considering vintage-style pickups, we highly recommend trying this one before trying more expensive options. *As this is a new pickup, it will require about 1-2 hours of aging after installation.
