Rim is gold-plated. I've been using it in an orchestra for a while. It's a slightly deep U-cup, but the inner diameter isn't very large, so it's an easy-to-play mouthpiece. The rim apex is closer to the inside, which I found made it easier to articulate. It's a beautiful item with little sign of use. We've priced it affordably considering its condition, so please refrain from price negotiations.
